We celebrate Women’s History Month. Following the positive response of our reading last year, we continue the spirit and inspiration of last year Women’s March and the # MeToo movement toward change. We’re inviting you to our Women’s Reading on Wednesday March 28 2018.

Sophie Malleret writer/performer originally from Paris read her poetry at Howl Festival, Bowery Poetry, Nuyorican Café, Amherst Library, Reuben Foundation and in Europe, last year in Paris, Marseille, Poetry Festivals in Prague, Brussels & Rotterdam… Developing her bilingual French/English poems. Poems published in Vlak, Maintenent. Also involved in film/theatre.
 
Sharon Mesmer’s newest poetry collection is Greetings From My Girlie Leisure Place (Bloof Books). Four of her poems appear in Postmodern American Poetry: A Norton Anthology (2013). Fiction collections are Ma Vie à Yonago (Hachette), and In Ordinary Time and The Empty Quarter, both from Hanging Loose.
 
Yuko Otomo
Japanese origin. A visual artist & a bilingual (Japanese & English)
writer. She writes poetry, haiku, art criticism, travelogues & essays.
Her publications include “Garden: Selected Haiku” (Beehive Press),
“Fragile” (Sisyphus Press), “Small Poems”, “The Hand of The Poet”,
“STUDY & Other Poems on Art” (all by Ugly Duckling Presse),
“Elements” (the Feral Press), “KOAN” (New Feral Press) & FROZEN
HEATWAVE: a collaborative linked poems project with Steve
Dalachinsky (Luna Bisonte Prods). Her poem “The Color(s) of The
Day” was nominated for 2018 Pushcart Award. She regularly writes
for a collective critical writing forum www.Arteidolia.com.
 
Nicole Peyrafitte is a pluridisciplinary artist born & raised in the Pyrenees. She resides in Brooklyn with her husband & often collaborator Pierre Joris.
She is in the final stages of her feature doc-verité  Things fall Where They Lie a 55 minutes film  with Yoko Otomo, Steve Dalachinski, Eric Sarner Katalin Pataki. 
She has a forthcoming book in June:  Land0Scape- Editions Plaine Page 
 
Wanda Phipps, author of Field of Wanting: Poems of Desire and Wake-Up Calls: 66 Morning Poems, has been published over 100 times in English, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Arabic, Galician and Bangla; created theatrical productions with Yara Arts Group presented in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Siberia, and NYC; curated reading series at the Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church and written about the arts for Time Out New York, Paper Magazine, and About.com. Joanna C. Valente is a human who lives in Brooklyn, New York. They are the author of Sirs & Madams (Aldrich Press, 2014), The Gods Are Dead (Deadly Chaps Press, 2015), Marys of the Sea (Operating System, 2017), Sexting Ghosts (Unknown Press, 2018), Xenos (Agape Editions, 2016), and is the editor of A Shadow Map: Writing by Survivors of Sexual Assault (CCM, 2017). They received their MFA in writing at Sarah Lawrence College. Joanna is the founder of Yes, Poetry and the managing editor for Civil Coping Mechanisms and Luna Luna Magazine. Some of their writing has appeared, or is forthcoming, in Brooklyn Magazine, Prelude, BUST, Spork Press, and elsewhere.
